You haven’t heard from me yet, but I’ve been running around a lot (literally) since joining the Uproot team. We’re a small family and I joined the team from San Francisco to spearhead California sales.
I grew up in Northern California, specifically a small town in Sonoma wine country called Occidental - and no, it’s nowhere near the college. Like Greg and Jay, I studied a lot of numbers in college (Harvey Mudd) and eventually received a Master’s in Finance (Claremont-McKenna). But I didn’t even give a professional banking career a chance. Post-graduation I immediately pursued wine and worked the cellar at a small winery in Sonoma. I loved it, but knew there was so much more for me to learn and do in this industry.
Since that original harvest I’ve poured wine in tasting rooms, farmed vineyards, managed inventory at a huge wine shipping warehouse (imagine Amazon for wine), operated forklifts, managed business at a well-respected winery (Williams Selyem), and now I’m helping establish Uproot Wines in the market place. We’re working feverishly to find the best restaurants and wine shops to share our wines with and we can’t wait to share each of them with you.
We’re doing something entirely new for this industry and it’s an incredibly exciting opportunity. The wine world doesn’t move fast, but we plan to change that. I look forward to bringing new fans to Uproot and visiting with you next time you're in wine country or traveling California.
